During the year, Plum Village welcomes thousands of practitioners from all over the world. Following its rapid expansion, which occurred in recent years, the community is now composed of seven 'Hamlet' (villages): Upper Hamlet, Hamlet Middle, and Lower West Hamlet Hamlet, located south-east of Sainte Foy la Grande, New Hamlet, Hamlet New Gatehouse and New Hillside Hamlet, located west of Duras. How to get to Plum Village
If you travel by plane, you can ask your agent to book a flight with final destination airport of Bordeaux. From Bordeaux, take the shuttle bus to the train station and there St.Jean the local train to Ste Foy la Grande.
We can take care of your transfer to and from the resort of Ste Foy la Grande until the day of start / end retreat. The cost of this service is 10 Euro, which cover only the costs for petrol and maintenance of the machine. The best times of the day to pick you up at the station, chosen according to the most frequent times of arrival of our guests, are 11:00 am, the 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the 16:00 to 17:00 and 18:00 to 18:30. The Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh holds two leading retreats each year: the summer retreat and winter retreat.

The summer retreat was place from about mid July to mid-August (the exact start and end dates are subject to minor changes). It 's a time for families and friends for the joyful together to create peace within ourselves and the world. It 's also a time to water our spiritual roots and to express gratitude and joy in a series of feasts: the Feast of the Rose, the Day of Commemoration of Ancestors, the Day of Hiroshima and the Full Moon Party. You are invited to bring your recipes and your favorite books, musical instruments, and more likely to have a special meaning in your culture.
During this retreat is offered a partial program Children aged 6 to 15 years. A group of people will strive to coordinate activities with parents and other adults who wish are welcome to contribute. Unfortunately we are unable to take care of children under 6 years of age. winter retreat
The winter retreat usually takes place from mid-November to mid February. This year, however, the time and place will be different from the usual: the winter retreat, in fact, will be held in Deer Park Monastery in California and will run from January 4 to March 14, 2004. It 's a time to study and deepen our understanding of the practice of mindfulness, and to apply it in everyday life. The winter retreat to a monastic retreat for nuns and monks living. Arrival and departure dates, length of stay

Accommodation, Food and Cost
The accommodation is simple to Plum Village, rooms are only available to more people (double, triple, quadruple rooms and dorms). Not all rooms are close to bathrooms and showers. In the rooms comes with a latex mattress, a pillow, a sheet with the corners and one or two sleeping bags of nylon. The men are housed in Upper Hamlet, Hamlet and women in New Lower Hamlet.
For the summer retreat, the cost for the stay and the food ranges from 216 to 310 € per person per week, depending on the type of accommodation chosen. Reductions are given to children under 17 years and children aged 6 to 12 years. The food is vegetarian. Unfortunately we are limited in their ability to accommodate people who need special diets or medical care. Because of our common practice, the participants in the retreat can not bring to our practice center of pets.
Practicing with the sangha in Plum Village Practice helps us to spread the presence of mind in all activities of daily living. This allows us to meditate throughout the day, eating, walking, working, sitting in meditation or enjoy a cup of tea together. All guests contribute to common tasks, like arranging the meditation room, prepare meals, clean bathrooms, empty the trash, watering plants, washing dishes, clean the kitchen and other activities as part of daily practice of mindfulness . The lessons emphasize on happiness and strength that come from practicing together and it is therefore important that all participate fully in all planned activities. We ask our guests to support the practice of all, monks and lay people, avoiding smoking, alcohol and sexual activities during their stay at Plum Village. Once a week there will be an opportunity to receive the transmission of the Five Trainings mindfulness. These exercises are the foundation of the community of Plum Village and bring happiness and meaning to everything we do.

The lessons are given alternately in French and English (most used languages \u200b\u200bin Plum Village) and are translated simultaneously into Italian. When possible, groups are organized to share the Dharma in Italian.
Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay, as it is familiarly called by his students) is unable to have personal interviews with students and guests who come to Plum Village. You are prompted to provide written questions to which Thay can respond during his speech or during the Q & A sessions. The other teachers of the Dharma Sangha Plum Village will be available for personal meetings.
What to Wear Outside the meditation hall sports clothes are fine. In the meditation hall are required to wear shirts with sleeves, long pants or skirts. Be sure to bring something nice to wear during the talk on the Dharma, formal dinners, teas and the meditations of the celebrations!
